William Eggleston’s choice of color photography has been crucial in lending credibility to the medium. However, I think the most interesting aspect of his photography is that he so often focuses on ordinary, one could even say boring, locations and objects. An abandoned gas station, a car that’s given up the ghost… His photographs sometimes make the mundane beautiful, but more importantly they make the mundane meaningful.
